Biography

Meredith Baxter has been an actress for 49 years; she’s also a writer, artist and mother of five, grandmother of 3. She starred in five television series, including the long-running Family Ties. Baxter has made multiple guest appearances on a variety of series, been nominated for four Emmys, and made about sixty movies for television, among them Betty Broderick: A Woman Scorned. Baxter has loved seeing one of her old features rerun continuously in this Trump era…All the President’s Men. Her more recent Television roles include Guest Star and recurring roles on Code Black on CBS, Finding Carter on MTV, Being Mary Jane on BET and a memorable role as Patty Dukes wife on GLEE for FOX.

THEATRE CREDITS:: Butterflies are Free, Vanities, Country Wife, Love, Loss and What I Wore, Agnes of God, Vagina Monologues; toured with Talley’s Folly, Guys and Dolls, Diaries of Adam and Eve and about 30 different productions of Love Letters around the country with Family Ties costar, Michael Gross. Baxter recently completed a run of City of Conversation at the Ensemble Theatre Company in Santa Barbara and has since joined them on their Board of Directors. She also was part of the original cast that work-shopped and presented Women Beyond Borders.

Meredith has made several appearances at the Center Stage Theatre in Santa Barbara in their Speaking of Stories series. She was also part of a presentation of Dear Elizabeth at CST, a dramatized play of the letters between poets Robert Lowell and Elizabeth Barrett.

Baxter’s New York Times Bestselling book UNTIED, a Memoir of Fame, Family and Floundering was published in March, 2011.

Meredith is a speaker on issues as diverse as alcohol abuse, domestic abuse, breast cancer, abortion rights, and LGBT issues. Aging gracefully with purpose, she just might be writing and speaking about that, too.

Baxter lives in Santa Barbara, California with her wife, Nancy Locke.
