Biography

Lolo Jones is a three-time summer and winter Olympian who competes in both track and field and bobsled. Born in Des Moines, Iowa, Jones had to overcome a difficult childhood during which her family was homeless at times and she lived in the basement of a Salvation Army. Later, she attended Louisiana State University where she competed on a track and field scholarship, earning gold medals at NCAA Championships on three occasions.

When Jones turned pro, she specialized in the 60m and 100m hurdle races. She was heavily favored to win gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where she stumbled on the final hurdle and yet still managed to complete the race at 7th place. She returned in 2009 and won the national indoor 60m hurdle race and was the winner in the 60m hurdle race in the 2010 World Indoor Championships. In the 2012 summer Olympics held in London, Jones finished fourth in the 100m hurdle race. She then transitioned to bobsled, competing in the 2014 games where she finished in 11th place. Jones went on to win gold at the World Championships for bobsled in 2021.

Outside of sports, Jones has become a media personality, competing on Dancing With The Stars, Celebrity Big Brother, The Challenge, and more. She also launched her own podcast this year, titled Gold Medal Loser, where she discusses overcoming obstacles on the way to success. She is the author of Over It: How to Face Life’s Hurdles with Grit, Hustle, and Grace.
