Biography

Julia Landauer is a NASCAR racer and 2-time champion from New York City. With dozens of wins across different series, Julia has set records since she was 10 years old, including becoming the highest finishing female in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series’ 64-year history.

Away from the track, Julia is a graduate of Stanford University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Technology, and Society. During college Julia was a contestant on season 26 of CBS’ reality TV show Survivor. It was also in college that Julia started her motivational speaking career with a TEDx talk and she is now a sought-after speaker for corporations, conferences, and universities. Julia also serves as an external advisor to Hyundai Motor Corporation’s Center for Robotic-Augmented Design in Living Experience.

For almost a decade, Julia has developed her brand and business and collaborated with companies such as Spotify, Disney/Pixar, and the One Love Foundation and has been written about by The New York Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, Entrepreneur, and espnW, to name a few. Julia is also an honoree of the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for sports and has spoken at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women’s Conference.

As Julia continues to develop her career and brand on and off the track, she uses her platform to advocate for STEM education and women’s empowerment.

Can Nice Girls Win (Races)?

In navigating the male-dominated field of racing, Julia Landauer began recognizing and grappling with stereotypes and negative assumptions about women at the early age of 10. These social and cultural norms have held women back for centuries, yet they must be tackled and overcome. Through colorful stories from her racing career, Julia addresses some of these stereotypes, how she overcame them and the greater significance this process has for women, and men who support women, everywhere. Referencing studies she read about at Stanford, Julia delivers emotional and fact-based observations and proposes various habits and mindsets that can help women succeed.

Marrying Passion & STEM

From an early age Julia knew she loved the human/machine interaction she experienced by maneuvering a vehicle around the track. Through her dedication to the sport she loved, Julia learned that being technically literate would better prepare her to thrive in her industry. In this talk, Julia describes some of the unexpected parallels between her worlds of college in Silicon Valley and the racing industry, she explores being a female in a male-dominated space, and she encourages her audience to better understand the STEM-related fields that can be applied to many different fields of study and industries.
