Biography
Dontae Winslow is one of the rising stars in the music industry. He is known as an A-List arranger, music producer, touring trumpeter, film composer, and educator in Hollywood. Dontae was trained in music at the formidable Baltimore School for the Arts high school. In four years, he attained a Bachelors and Masters degree in Classical Music Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the John's Hopkins University. He also completed studies at USC under film composer Terence Blanchard, pianist Herbie Hancock, string arranger Jeremy Lubbock, and trumpeter Gary Grant at the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz on a fellowship. He has collaborated with music that spans every genre in the American musical landscape from Pop, Country, Blues, and Jazz, to Hip-hop, Soul, Gospel and Christian records.
Overcoming a tough family background with perseverance and resilience Dontae is a survivor of child abuse and a parent suffering drug abuse. He speaks openly about healing and thriving through such debilitating obstacles that face many of our youth. A consummate motivator Dontae speaks with heart and authenticity which comes easily because he lives with gratitude, optimism, and great compassion.
Dontae has toured/Performed/recorded with Justin Timberlake, Chris Stapleton, Lady A, Jay-Z, Queen Latifah, Garth Brooks, Kelsea Ballerini, Kamasi Washington, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Jill Scott, Common, Neyo, D’Angelo, Christina Aguilera, Lauryn Hill, and Snoop Dogg. He designed his own custom trumpet the “Winslow Dynasty Model” by Adams Instruments and was featured on their international Magazine cover. He has the horn with the famous Red Bell. You can see him performing on the NETFLIX special Justin Timberlake and the Tennessee Kids. Recently He has arranged horns and performed in two Superbowl Half-Time Shows. In 2021 Dontae arranged string orchestra for the new hit single by Pop Boy Band WHY DON’T WE entitled “Grey.”
In addition, Dontae is a jazz improvisation, music production, film composing and performance clinician for such esteemed institutions as The Berklee School of Music, The Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, The Los Angeles Unified School District, and The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University.

Dontae Winslow inspires people to look inside and withdraw the greatness that is already instilled in them. Overcoming life’s obstacles emotionally and psychologically is what he has been blessed to inspire in young people around the world.
Resilience
One major key to success for Dontae is having passion for something outside of your being. The trumpet lead him to achieve something beyond his wildest imagination, yet the patience and tenacity to master it molded him as person. Dontae teaches that with tenacity, humility, and gratitude literally anything can be achieved.
Youth Overcoming Obstacles
Dontae grew up as an abused young person who’s parent was addicted to drugs in a single parent home. He is open about being strong during tough times while excelling at school and avoiding the common trappings that face our youth. Believing in oneself and loving oneself is a bulwark for upward mobility in society, without this nothing is attainable... with Self Love all things are possible.
Husband/Father Professional Balance
Taking care of the home with love and kindness is a delicate balancing act much like running a business. Attention to detail, good intentions, and eye contact gets most of the results you need to win. At the end of the day to win in love is to never put business before relationships, major in the majors and minor in the minors.
Faith
Whatever you believe will be true for you. As we walk among other humans with a myriad of belief systems it is important to first come from a place of love, understanding and compassion. If we begin in love, we can indeed achieve harmony with others as a world civilization of brother and sisterhood.
Excellence
The essence of excellence is NOT giving up on yourself to soon. Most people quit just before the breakthrough, right at the cusp, just before the miraculous transition. Persevere to the end of the set goal. This is excellence! It breeds success.
