Biography

Born and raised in New Orleans, Chloé Valdary is a lover of music, rhythm and song. She believes that teaching harmony is the true path to integration and can help people connect deeply, bridge divides and build inclusive cultures of belonging.

While in school at the University of New Orleans, Chloé studied the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and did a great deal of work fighting anti-Semitism. Although she is not Jewish, she was raised in a household that adhered to Jewish customs and she has a deep connection to Jewish traditions.

After spending a year as a Bartley fellow at The Wall Street Journal, Valdary developed The Theory of Enchantment, which seeks to help people love themselves, without which they could not love others. It’s an innovative framework for compassionate antiracism that combines social-emotional learning (SEL), character development and interpersonal growth as tools for leadership development in the boardroom and beyond.

Chloé has conducted trainings around the world, including in South Africa, The Netherlands, Germany and Israel. Her clients include high school and college students, government agencies, business teams and many more.

She has also lectured at universities across America, including Harvard and Georgetown. The host of “The Heart Speaks” podcast, Chloé ‘s work has been covered in The Atlantic and Psychology Today, and her writings have appeared in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal.

Valdary’s work continues to inspire others to adopt a more compassionate and open-minded approach to advocacy, embracing free thought to bridge divides and uplift individuals.

Finding Common Ground: How to Heal Racial Division

Looking for an antiracism program or workshop that actually fights bigotry instead of spreading it? Then Chloé Valdary is the speaker for you. Valdary takes a different approach to healing racial division—one based on emphasizing the importance of human connection and understanding. Called the Theory of Enchantment framework, Valdary teaches people how to practice being in a healthy relationship with themselves first, without which they could not be in a healthy relationship with others. Once a person is able to accept the parts of themselves they feel ashamed of, they will be able to accept that in their neighbor, she says. Through her compelling words and unwavering commitment to social justice, as well as a lot of pop culture faves and music, Valdary inspires listeners to become active agents of change in their communities and work towards a future where racial harmony prevails.

A New DEI for the Ages

For most corporations, conventional Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs are ineffective. So, what's the best way to navigate the world of DEI? For Chloé Valdary, the answer is a different approach—one that kickstarts better colleague and customer relationships. In this keynote or workshop, Valdary shows through her Theory of Enchantment framework how to make profound changes in perspective that awaken your team to overcome bias and prejudice by practicing wholeheartedness and love. While conventional DEI focuses on groups and/or measures outcomes as changes in attitude (with no measure for actual behavioral change), this framework focuses on the individual, using the most statistically strong methods, and creates positive attitude and behavioral change.

The framework has proven to:

  • Increase employee well-being.
  • Align with the law.

In this powerful talk, Chloé Valdary uses music, psychology and more to examine the history of these two communities, how they have so much more in common than they think and how they can find common ground by building a foundation of shared humanity, where communities see themselves and their stories reflected in each other's.
