Biography
Ben Wizner is the director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project. For nearly twenty years, Ben has worked at the intersection of civil liberties and national security. He has litigated a wide range of cases involving government surveillance, airport security policies, extraordinary rendition, and torture. Most prominently, since 2013 he has been the principal legal advisor to NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden.
Ben appears regularly in the global media and has testified before Congress. He is a frequent speaker on issues ranging from government secrecy to digital privacy to freedom of speech. Ben is a graduate of Harvard College and the NYU School of Law.
