Biography
A former abuse victim and foster kid straight outta Compton, Anthony D. Mays wears many hats as a public speaker, DEI consultant, writer, tech career coach, and software engineer. Teaching himself how to code at the age of 8, Anthony went on to obtain a degree in Information and Computer Science from the University of California, Irvine and started his tech career as an INROADS intern, winning the Lorenz Tovar Intern of the Year award and earning a spot as one of the Top 50 alums in the organization’s 50-year history.
Anthony’s journey from Compton to Google as one of its few Black software engineers was featured in a viral BuzzFeed documentary in 2018. After spending eight years at Google, he left the company in early 2022 to pursue full-time entrepreneurship as founder of Morgan Latimer Consulting in order to bridge the gap between the underrepresented and companies looking to hire exceptional talent. He excels at weaving his inspirational story of perseverance into rich, thought-provoking conversations about inclusion in tech, employing candor, humor, and vulnerability to reach both minds and hearts.
He has received numerous awards for his work in the tech industry including the Empowerment Congress 40-Under-40 award, Irvine Chamber of Commerce 40-Under-40 award, and the INROADS Trendsetter award. Anthony has also had the pleasure of working with numerous organizations and Fortune 500 companies including Honey, Goodyear, Honeywell, Blacks in Technology, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Junior Achievement.
