Adam Met, a member of the Multi-Platinum Band AJR and Columbia University professor, just announced the publication of his new book, Amplify: How to Use the Power of Connection to Engage, Take Action, and Build a Better World.
The APB Exclusive Speaker’s book will be published by Penguin Random House in June. Met describes it as a blueprint for boosting activism and building support for the causes you care about. It features fan-building tactics from the music industry and the voices of today’s most passionate change-makers.
Beyond the stage, Adam is deeply invested in environmental sustainability, founding the climate advocacy nonprofit Planet Reimagined. The organization develops research and fosters policy change both locally and internationally through its unique action-research model, all while training and engaging the climate leaders of the future.
They collectively utilize media and strategic advocacy to appeal to vast audiences on environmental issues, from energy to agriculture to technology and beyond. Adam works closely with the U.S. Congress, the White House and various local and national agencies, contributing to the formulation of bipartisan renewable energy policies and impactful legislation. He is also an advocate with the U.N. Development Programme, raising awareness about sustainability and promoting solutions to global challenges.
In the halls of academia, Adam shares his extensive knowledge as a professor, guiding students in climate, policy and movement building. His academic journey is diverse, encompassing degrees in business and philosophy (B.A., Columbia University), constitutional religious law (M.A., New York University) and human rights law and sustainable development (Ph.D., University of Birmingham, UK).
“Being a musician is all the more meaningful to me when I find new ways to apply what I’ve learned in this industry," Met told People magazine. "I wrote this book to share everything I know about building a great fan base, combined with my academic and teaching experience and advocacy work with Planet Reimagined."
