Expert Economist Forecasts Euro's Surge Amid Trade Tariff Turbulence
04 Apr 2025

What will be the impact of trade tariffs on the U.S. economy? In a recent article on Bloomberg.com, the world's leading financial futurist, geopolitical advisor and economist Jason Schenker said one effect would be the rise of the euro against the dollar.
Schenker predicted the uptick in the euro earlier this year and stands by his forecast, stating the currency will grow to $1.13 against the dollar by the end of 2025. He based his forecast partly on evidence of weaknesses in the U.S. economy. He is maintaining that expectation as markets brace for the repercussions of the next phase of President Trump's trade conflict.
“Because of the uncertainties of policies—and because of increases of tariff uncertainty more broadly—you may have confidence erode,” Schenker told Bloomberg. “I am less euro-bullish than I am dollar-bearish.”
Schenker is the President of Prestige Economics, which provides training and consulting services to help businesses navigate uncertainty and prepare to win in the future. He is also the Chairman of The Futurist Institute, a leading provider of executive foresight education.
Bloomberg has ranked Schenker the #1 forecaster in the world in 27 different categories since 2011. A highly sought-after keynote speaker, Schenker has delivered over 1,200 speeches and given more than 1,000 television interviews on finance, energy, supply chains, technology and economic security.
A Forbes contributor and LinkedIn Top Voice, Schenker has written 38 books with 17 Amazon #1 bestsellers. His latest, Cold War Two: Navigating a New Era of Uncertainty for the Economy, Finance, Energy, Technology, Trade and Supply Chain, became a bestseller in just a few weeks. It was released last month. His LinkedIn Learning courses on AI, economics and finance have been taken by over 1.3 million people worldwide.
