Climate Week NYC Returns with Over 600 Events to Drive Global Climate Action & Innovation

This week (Sept. 22-29), the Big Apple will celebrate one of its premiere events focused on saving the planet. Climate Week NYC is the largest annual climate event of its kind, bringing together over 600 events and activities across the City of New York—in person, hybrid and online.
Each year, business leaders, political changemakers, local decision-makers and civil society representatives of all ages and backgrounds from all over the world gather to drive the transition, speed up progress and champion change that is already happening.
Climate Week NYC is hosted by Climate Group, an international non-profit aiming to drive climate action fast. Climate Group hosts the official program during the week that brings together the most senior international figures from business, government, civil society and the climate sector.

Gina McCarthy

As head of the Climate Policy Office under President Biden, McCarthy’s leadership led to the most aggressive action on climate in U.S. history, creating new jobs and unprecedented clean energy innovation and investments across the country.
Jonathan Foley

Dr. Jonathan Foley is a world-renowned climate scientist, sustainability expert and public speaker. He is the executive director of Project Drawdown—the world’s leading resource for climate solutions. His work focuses on finding solutions to sustain the climate, ecosystems and natural resources we all depend on. Foley’s groundbreaking work has led him to become a trusted advisor to governments, foundations, non-profits and business leaders around the world.
Wanjiku “Wawa” Gatheru
Environmental Justice Warrior, Rhodes Scholar & Founder of Black Girl Environmentalist
Wawa Gatheru is a climate justice storyteller motivated to uplift the voices of those most adversely impacted by the climate crisis. She has become a prominent voice of her generation, using the power of social media to share how communities of color and women have been adversely affected by climate change and the racist roots of the environmental movement. She is the founder and executive director of Black Girl Environmentalist (BGE)—the only national organization dedicated to addressing the pipeline and pathway issues for Black girls, women and gender-expansive individuals in the climate sector.
Sophia Kianni
Founder of Climate Cardinals & Youngest Appointed United Nations Advisor
Sophia Kianni is an Iranian-American social entrepreneur and activist. She studied at Stanford University and founded Climate Cardinals, the world’s largest youth-led climate nonprofit, with 16,000 volunteers in 80-plus countries. She is also a founder of Phia, a forthcoming digital fashion platform, alongside Stanford peer Phoebe Gates. She is the youngest United Nations advisor in U.S. history and was most recently appointed to serve on the EPA’s National Youth Advisory Council.
Mary Robinson
Former President of Ireland, Chair of The Elders & Former UN Special Envoy on Climate Change
One of the world’s most respected advocates for climate justice and Ireland’s first woman President, Mary Robinson has moved audiences worldwide with her passionate and hopeful call for all nations to fight for a sustainable future. Her TED Talk received a standing ovation. Her latest book, Climate Justice, has received glowing reviews from former world leaders and the environmental and human rights community.
Adam Met
Member of Multi-Platinum Band AJR, Founder of Planet Reimagined & Columbia University Professor
Adam Met, Ph.D., seamlessly transitions between roles as a musician, educator, advocate and scholar. As the world-renowned bassist in the band AJR, he has played in front of millions of fans worldwide. Beyond the stage, Adam is deeply invested in environmental sustainability, founding the climate advocacy nonprofit Planet Reimagined. The organization develops research and fosters policy change locally and internationally through its unique action-research model, all while training and engaging future climate leaders.

Jerome Foster II is an environmental justice activist, social entrepreneur and renowned public speaker. At 18, he made history by becoming the youngest person to advise the White House by joining the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council to advise the United States President on how best to advance environmental justice.
