APB Celebrates Nurses Week This May
20 Apr 2018
Since 1994, May 6th through May 12th has officially been recognized as National Nurses Week—a time to honor and celebrate the incredible contributions nurses make in the healthcare arena every day. The holiday ends on the birthday of one of history’s well-known nurses, Florence Nightingale. Emphasizing the important—and many—roles nurses play, APB's speakers weighed in:
Former US Surgeon General Richard Carmona remarked: “I have always said that I am a much better physician and surgeon general having been a registered nurse first! Once a nurse, always a nurse.”
Emmy-winning television host Samantha Harris said: “The day I learned I had breast cancer, my head spun and tears poured. The nurse hugged me, gave me a box of tissues and answered my ongoing questions through my mastectomy. Thank you for all you do every day for patients!"
