APB's Dr. Richard Carmona to Receive Health Literacy Media's 2017 Doak Award

On October 26, Dr. Richard Carmona will receive Health Literacy Media’s (HLM) Cecilia and Leonard Doak Health Literacy Champion Award. The summit will be held in Kansas City where Dr. Carmona will also be delivering a keynote address.

As 17th Surgeon General of the United States (2002-2006), Dr. Carmona focused on prevention, health literacy, health disparities and global health. He is also a combat decorated Special Forces veteran, the CEO of Canyon Ranch Health and a distinguished professor at University of Arizona. His multiple achievements, despite the challenges of a disadvantaged childhood, denote his resilience and determination, all of which he shares during his engaging, high-energy presentations.
