Speaker Bob Harper Opens Up About Being a Heart Attack Survivor
05 Apr 2017
Bob Harper speaks up about his life-threatening heart attack at age 51 to let his viewers know that no matter how healthy you are, you still need to have regular checkups with a doctor.
A month and a half after the heart attack, Harper tells reporter Savannah Guthrie of NBC that the only reason he is alive is because two doctors happened to be at the gym and saved his life. Harper survived what doctors called a “widow maker,” a type of massive heart attack that only has a six percent survival rate. The heart attack came as a surprise while Harper was doing CrossFit, especially since he embodies what it means to be healthy as a fitness trainer on The Biggest Loser and as owner of his own fitness and nutrition company, The Daily Burn.
“It is so important to know your health,” said Harper during the interview, noting that you don’t always know what is going on inside of your body, especially if you have a family history of health issues.
Harper has become one of the most credible and sought-after motivational healthcare experts, and is one of the most popular lifestyle personalities in the world.
