'New York Times' Best-Selling Author Wes Moore Releases Highly Anticipated New Book, 'The Work'
13 Jan 2015
APB speaker Wes Moore, the acclaimed author of The Other Wes Moore, continues his inspirational quest for a meaningful life in his new book The Work: My Search for a Life That Matters, which debuted at No. 15 on the New York Times Bestseller List. Sharing the powerful lessons that led him to unearth a new definition of success for our times, Moore examines themes of self-discovery, service, and risk-taking as he probes the choices people make in life.
A Rhodes Scholar, White House fellow, and decorated combat veteran, Moore was inspired to write The Work when he realized that, though he appeared “successful” by the standard definition, he felt he was not truly doing the work he needed to do. Challenged by this notion alone, Moore set out to understand his real mission and goal in life without using the traditional definitions of success. In addition to his own journey, he shares the stories of other 21st-century change-makers who have inspired him in his search, from Daniel Lubetzky, the founder of KIND, to Esther Benjamin, a Sri Lankan immigrant who rose to help lead the Peace Corps.
Taking responsibility for his calling to make a difference, Moore pushes audiences to ask themselves, “We’ve all made it this far, but how do we make ‘making it’ matter?” Through powerful speeches, he tells intimate stories about finding meaning in a volatile age, motivating us all to pursue our own path toward creating a better world.
