Unbreakable: Choosing Positivity

On March 5, 2010, Grant told Shawna that he couldn’t feel or move anything from the belly button down. Not many newlyweds could make it through such an ordeal, but they knew that they would draw upon the love and promises they had made to each other just five months prior, at their wedding.

Grant, an adventurer, professional athlete and nanoscientist, had sustained a spinal cord injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down. With the support of his wife Shawna, and the memory of his best friend who died in an avalanche, Grant found the will to reject his doctor’s dire prognosis. Drawing on her experience as a personal trainer, Shawna worked with doctors and therapists to devise a rigorous plan that aligned with Grant’s goal of 120% recovery. Thriving on his inner strength, Shawna’s assistance and a long regimen of physical therapy and Pilates, he became the first spinal cord-injured athlete to ski 80 miles in Antarctica's South Pole.

Guests attending this motivating presentation will walk away with a renewed sense of optimism, direction and personal power found in the tools delivered by Grant’s “Three Principals of Possibility.” The future of your life is unwritten. As Grant says, “It’s not about what I’ve done, it’s about what I am going to do.”
