Biography

Anita Perez Ferguson is a professional speaker, an experienced trainer and a published author in the areas of Leadership, Diversity, and Public Policy. Perez Ferguson is a scholar-practitioner and a doctoral student at the Fielding Graduate Institute in the school of Human and Organizational Development.  Her practical experiences include leadership of national nonprofit, key positions in governmental and political associations and candidacy for the United States House of Representatives. 

Her expertise is exhibited in her publications and her work with the Woodrow Wilson Foundation in Princeton as a Visiting Scholar.  A key chapter from her latest book, Women Seen and Heard, co authored by Dr. Lois Phillips, was published in the premiere edition of the Women’s Policy Journal of Harvard, JFK School of Government. Other articles appear in various journals and collections including Community Action Digest, Latina Style magazine, and A Perfect World: Words and Paintings from Over 50 of America’s Most Powerful People.

Perez Ferguson was appointed by President Clinton to Chair of the Inter-American Foundation and confirmed in this position by the United States Senate.  She formerly served as the president of the National Women’s Political Caucus and earlier as the White House Liaison to the United States Department of Transportation. 

She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America where she co-chairs the organization’s Public Policy Initiative and is a member of the Finance and Investment committees.

In 1993, she served as director of training for the Democratic National Committee.  In conjunction with groups such as the United States Information Agency, the National Democratic Institute, the Asia Foundation, and Vital Voices, Perez Ferguson has provided leadership and political skills training to women in the United States, Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe. 

From 1996-99, Perez Ferguson was a weekly contributor to WAMC National Public Radio in New York.  She has been certified by Toastmasters International, and is a graduate of the Gallup Leadership Institute for CEO’s. Hispanic Business magazine named Perez Ferguson one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the United States.

Perez Ferguson has been a featured speaker for a wide variety of organizations including the National Association of Community Action, Lucent Technology, National Hispania Leadership Institute, the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, the American Political Science Association, the International Downtown Association, and many colleges and universities.
